News 8 Broadcast of the Initiative

New 8 on Time Warner did a great story about the initiative.

The reporter, finally, found a pastor that expressed his concerns, which we have addressed many times over.

The CURRENT law permits FULL BAR permits EVEN IN a DRY AREA!

This initiative simply allows beer and wine ONLY permits for eateries and allows Wineries to avoid the grape juice requirement imposed by Texas on Dry Areas.

Petition Signatures

In less than 2 weeks, we have been able to certify (internal audit) 2200 signatures! Great going!!

We need more "feet on the street" and can pay $1.00 per signature. Each paid volunteer is being paid no less that $15.00 per hour! If you can walk a residential area from 5:30 to dusk any day, please call Charles Carter at 217-7508 and he will give you (1) a map of the street, (2) a list of registered voters for the street and (3) instructions on what to say and letters from the community leaders backing the initiative so you can answer questions.

Look for JUNE announcement for a BRING IT TO A CLOSE special event around June 19th to complete the drive and turn in the petitions to the County Board of Elections for them to certify.

Initial Petition Accepted and Validated!

The Board of Elections has verified the initial petition's signatures, validated the printed notice to the public and is placing the order for the signature petitions to be printed and has requested expedited service and "believes" that they may be ready for us to pick up by next Thursday, the 20th of May!

That means we can start the petition drive next Saturday, May 22nd. Charles Carter is coordinating the effort and will advise us of when we can meet to train petition signature gathering volunteers.

IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN!!!
